The client brief for the project was to design a one-level forever home large enough for family and friends to gather, yet manageable in size. The clients also wanted outdoor zones for al fresco dining, recreational activities and a vegetable garden.
Downsizing from a large suburban home to a new one allowed us the create an open floor plan that would work for their indoor/outdoor lifestyle. The main house has a primary bedroom + bath, and a generous combination laundry/mud room with a separate entry. We created a flex room that serves as a second bedroom or home office and a small pantry off of the kitchen with cabinets for storing larger kitchen appliances and cleaning supplies, as well as an undercounter wine refrigerator. A generous bi-fold glass door opens the full length of the living/dining/kitchen area offering west facing bay views in the distance. A dining nook provides a cozy breakfast area. For sleepovers, the separate 1 bed / 1 bath guest house includes a kitchenette, sleeping lofts, and beautiful bay views as well. A garage and workshop complete the development of the project.
